From 7–10 July 2026, Fashion Program students from BINUSIAN 2028 presented their work in the Sustainable Fashion Exhibition, held as part of the Sustainable Fashion course. The exhibition featured a collection of garments created from discarded textiles, highlighting how waste materials can be transformed into meaningful fashion pieces through creativity and thoughtful design.

The exhibition was made possible through a collaboration between the Fashion Program at BINUS University, Evermos, and Closed Loop Fashion. As part of the partnership, Evermos donated surplus and pre-used fabrics, giving students the opportunity to explore sustainable design practices using real materials from the industry.

Working with limited resources challenged students to think differently about the design process. Rather than starting with new fabrics, they were encouraged to reimagine existing textiles and turn them into original fashion collections. Each piece reflects not only the students’ creativity, but also their understanding of upcycling, material innovation, and responsible design.

Throughout the course, students learned that sustainability goes beyond choosing environmentally friendly materials. It also involves making thoughtful design decisions, extending the life of existing resources, and considering the environmental impact of every stage of the creative process. These principles became the foundation of the collections showcased in the exhibition.

More than a final class project, the Sustainable Fashion Exhibition demonstrates how collaboration between academia and industry can create meaningful learning experiences. By working directly with materials provided by industry partners, students gained practical insight into today’s sustainability challenges while developing solutions through fashion design.

Through initiatives like this, the Fashion Program at BINUS University continues to encourage future designers to embrace innovation, creativity, and environmental responsibility—qualities that are becoming increasingly important in the evolving global fashion industry.
