A proud achievement was earned by Alifa Muthmainnah (Mia), a fourth-year Fashion Design student at BINUS University, who secured Second Place in the Asian Student Fashion Week (ASFW) Malang 2026 Fashion Design Competition. In recognition of her outstanding work, Mia received a cash prize of Rp1,500,000.

Held on 9–10 May 2026, Asian Student Fashion Week (ASFW) 2026 is an international platform that showcases the creativity and innovation of students and emerging fashion designers across Asia. Organized by the Applied Fashion Design Program at Universitas Negeri Malang, the event aims to bridge education and the fashion industry while encouraging collaboration, experimentation, and sustainable design practices.

Carrying the overarching theme “Evolve: Threads of Tomorrow,” ASFW 2026 explored the transformation of fashion through innovation, technology, and sustainability. The event encouraged participants to rethink the future of fashion by highlighting responsible design, where materials and cultural connections become the foundation for creating a more sustainable industry.

For the Fashion Design Competition, participants were challenged with the sub-theme “Digital Renaissance,” which invited designers to imagine a revival of fashion in the digital era by integrating technology, sustainability, and futuristic aesthetics. Competitors were required to create original designs that reflected sustainable values while presenting innovative concepts through storyboard, moodboard, and front and back garment illustrations. 

Through her menswear design, Mia successfully demonstrated her creativity and technical ability while responding thoughtfully to the competition theme. Her achievement reflects not only her dedication as a designer but also the quality of education and innovation fostered within BINUS University’s Fashion Design program.
