Hong Kong Immersion Trip 2026
The BINUS University Fashion Program embarked on an international immersion trip to Hong Kong from 31 August to 6 September 2026, offering students an opportunity to explore the region’s fashion industry, cultural heritage, and creative landscape. A major highlight of the trip was CENTRESTAGE 2026, Hong Kong’s international fashion event, where students experienced contemporary fashion through the theme “Roots to Rhythm.”
Throughout the trip, students visited several destinations that offered different perspectives on fashion, design, and cultural preservation.
On Day 2, the group visited The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, gaining exposure to an international academic environment and its approach to fashion and design education. The visit provided an opportunity to observe how creative disciplines are developed within a global educational setting.
On Day 3, students explored The Mills Centre for Heritage, Arts and Textiles (CHAT), a cultural institution dedicated to preserving and reinterpreting Hong Kong’s textile heritage. The visit highlighted the relationship between traditional craftsmanship and contemporary creative practices, encouraging students to consider how historical techniques and cultural narratives can inspire modern fashion design.
On Day 4, the group visited Tsim Sha Tsui Promenade, where Hong Kong’s distinctive urban landscape offered another perspective on the relationship between culture, architecture, and contemporary city life. The experience allowed students to observe the visual influences and cultural diversity that contribute to Hong Kong’s creative identity.
The main highlight of the immersion trip was CENTRESTAGE 2026, held in Hong Kong under the theme “Roots to Rhythm.” The event showcased BINUS Fashion students’ collections, ranging from the B26 thesis works to other garments created in classes such as Fashion Design and Creative Pattern Exploration.
Through the fashion show, students had the opportunity to observe how designers translated their inspirations into garments and runway presentations. Aside from that, select students were chosen as fitters of the show, thus gaining the experience of what it’s like to work backstage in a fashion show.
For the BINUS Fashion Program students, attending the show offered valuable exposure to international fashion presentations and the creative direction behind runway collections. It also provided an opportunity to observe how designers communicate ideas through silhouettes, materials, styling, and visual storytelling.
The seven-day immersion trip to Hong Kong offered BINUS Fashion Program students a multifaceted view of the fashion ecosystem, from academic exploration and textile heritage to urban culture and international runway presentations.
By engaging with different aspects of Hong Kong’s creative landscape, students were encouraged to broaden their perspectives, reflect on the role of cultural identity in fashion, and consider new approaches to their own design practices.
